About Me

I am committed to improving the lives of individuals living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease through conducting innovative research, providing outstanding clinical care, and training the next generation of physician-scientists in obstructive lung disease.

I am a Professor of Medicine, Director of the Airways Disease Research Center, and Vice Chief for Research in the Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy, and Immunologic Diseases at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. I received my medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. I completed my residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and my fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.

My clinical translational research program is focused on understanding risk factors and mechanisms driving development and progression of COPD and its associated comorbidities, with an emphasis on COPD-related musculoskeletal disease. The goal of my research program is to identify targets for precision therapy to improve the lives of individuals living with COPD. In my clinical practice, I treat patients with advanced and difficult to manage COPD.
