The Section of Nephrology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care for patients with all forms of kidney disease. Our team is a recognized leader in cutting-edge research on inherited kidney disease and provides education to help train the next generation of nephrology specialists.
As part of the Department of Internal Medicine, the Nephrology Section includes faculty with internationally-renowned expertise. We are committed to providing highly-specialized care for patients with conditions that include:
- acute kidney injury
- chronic kidney disease
- end-stage renal disease
In addition to caring for the hundreds of patients who have kidney transplant procedures each year, the section offers outpatient dialysis options at free-standing centers that are conveniently located throughout the region.
Our nephrology staff, faculty and physicians pride themselves on their focus on patient care. During office hours, patients and referring physicians can speak directly with staff. Messages for physicians are relayed by the nursing staff immediately, and patients and physicians receive return phone calls on the same day.
