The overall goal of this HRSA-funded project (HRSA 212966) is to reduce morbidity and mortality of individuals who use opioids within high-risk rural communities in North Carolina. We are working with five high-risk rural counties to expand or enhance their current overdose prevention infrastructure. Using a community-based participatory approach we are working with community members representing different sectors in these five communities to implement public health vending machines that dispense naloxone.

The impact of this project will be an increase the number of community members who can prevent opioid overdose deaths in their communities.
