Context-Driven Co-Design (CD2) is a state-of-the-science approach to developing and tailoring strategies to support the implementation of evidence-based interventions. CD2 is based on the premise that the success of evidence-based intervention implementation depends on the alignment of the features of the evidence-based intervention with features of the context in which it will be implemented and the strategies that are used to support its implementation.
CD2 combines elements of user-centered design and implementation science and includes two components:
- A detailed assessment of the setting in which an intervention will be implemented (i.e., context assessment)
- Codesign sessions with intervention stakeholders (e.g., patients and providers) to create a tailored implementation plan.
