ASPIRE ( Advancing Translational Science Through the Implementation of Population Based Genomic Screening) is a research initiative designed to improve how genomic screening is implemented in real-world clinical settings. By focusing on both community engagement and operational efficiency, ASPIRE aims to make population-based genomic screening (PGS) more accessible, scalable, and equitable – especially for conditions where early detection can save lives.
Why Participate
By contributing your genetic and health history information to ASPIRE, researchers will be able to learn more about how DNA impacts health and disease. The more we understand, the more we can improve health care for you, your family and your community for generations to come. There is also a chance that the information you learn from ASPIRE could impact your health care or your family’s health care.
How to Participate
- Anyone older than 18 years old with no cognitive inhibitions is eligible to participate in the ASPIRE program at no cost to you.
- We are currently recruiting from selected primary care facilities. We plan to expand to additional facilities in the future.
- If we are recruiting from your primary care facility, you will receive a MyChart message with information about the study. From there you will be directed to our Informed Consent system where you should login with your Atrium Health MyChart Credentials. After you log in, read the consent form carefully, answer the required questions, and sign electronically. Once you have consented, a copy of the signed consent form will be emailed to you.
- You will receive a sample collection kit at your home. Once you provide your sample, it will be sent to our partners at Labcorp (formerly Invitae) for analysis. Results will be returned to you electronically via MyChart within 2 months of sample submission.
