About Me

I was born into a loud, fun-loving, large Italian-Colombian-Greek family on Long Island, N.Y. I grew up playing soccer, basketball, fly-fishing and I’m a pretty decent shot on a rifle. I waitressed and bartended for almost 10 years and am known to make a good margarita. I completed my bachelor’s degree in public health at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., where I had a side gig doing hair and makeup. I completed graduate degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology and concentrated in cancer genetics. From there, I moved to Philadelphia for the cheesesteaks and a research position at Thomas Jefferson University. I then attended the University of Rochester School of Medicine for my medical degree. I came to Wake Forest University School of Medicine School of Medicine School of Medicine School of Medicine School of Medicine School of Medicine School of Medicine for the people, surgical culture and the nicer weather! I am the proud mother of a fur baby named Boone and live with my husband, Alex, who keeps me hydrated and fed during surgery residency. On weekends, I enjoy cooking and excuses to eat cheese, as well as heading to the range to meditate. I am always down for a trip to the beach and trying anything new!
