I am a board-certified and fellowship-trained reconstructive urologist, globally recognized leader within this field. As one of the few fellowship directors for programs approved by the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons (GURS), I am the only provider to have trained at three prior GURS programs. I perform the highest annual volume of penile implant procedures in the state of North Carolina, and am the premier regional expert in urethral strictures, Peyronie’s disease, male stress incontinence, buried penis, and male infertility.
As a physician and an associate professor of urology at Wake Forest School of Medicine, I am also known for excellence in communication. I have authored and teach a course on communication skills to other healthcare providers. I am well published in medical literature, with superior clinical outcomes. I was chosen as president-elect for the North Carolina Urological Association and is a recognized participant and prizewinner of the American Urological Association Leadership Program.
With a special interest in our nation’s wounded warriors, I am the primary investigator for two registered clinical trials, both funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, involving tissue engineering to restore both the male urethra and erectile tissue. Additionally, my colleagues and I have presented novel research regarding stem cell therapy for erectile dysfunction and are currently planning a clinical trial.
