About Me

I am a Board Certified Geriatrician who has spent 25 years caring for older adults in just about every kind of care setting, from hospital to clinic to nursing home. My special interest is diagnosis and management of patients with dementia and supporting their care partners. Since joining the faculty at Wake Forest School of Medicine in 2017, I have also had the opportunity to participate in research related to dementia, specifically Alzheimer’s disease. I am the PI for the Wake Forest Baptist site of the US POINTER study, a prospective randomized controlled trial to determine if certain lifestyle interventions can preserve cognitive function in older adults. This is also my third year as Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Director which allows me the opportunity to share my passion for this population with the next generation of amazing physicians.

When I’m not at work, you can generally find me on a bike trail with my husband or on my back porch with a good book. I have four adult children, and visiting with them is always high on my priority list!
