As a fully integrated part of Atrium Health, the region's largest health care system, our students learn and train within a premier academic medical center. Our educators inspire a spirit of inquiry and interprofessional collaboration, using innovative instructional methods to prepare leaders ready to serve the diverse communities of Charlotte and beyond.


The Charlotte regional campus of Wake Forest University School of Medicine offers:

  • One-on-one attention with attending and resident physicians
  • Top-ranked third-year MD Program clerkships
  • High patient volume, small learner count
  • State-of-the-art simulation center, where learners practice procedures and care of the acutely ill patient
  • Varied learning experiences
  • Health system science education dedicated to mitigating health differences and engaging the community
While third and fourth-year students have rotated in Charlotte for their clinical clerkships for years, the campus will now expand and seat its first four-year class in 2025.

Wake Forest University School of Medicine will anchor the Howard R. Levine Center for Education in the heart of The Pearl, and will be joined by Carolinas College of Health Sciences, and connect with Wake Forest University’s School of Professional Studies and School of Business and other educational opportunities. This is the first, four-year medical school in Charlotte.
