Family Medicine Rotation

The Department of Family Medicine hosts third-year students from The Wake Forest University School of Medicine for a longitudinal Family Medicine Clerkship. Fourth-year students have opportunities for family medicine experiences in the inpatient or outpatient settings. A popular one-month acting internship (AI) is offered to students from within or outside of Wake Forest. In the outpatient setting, we offer one-month electives in procedures, geriatrics, integrative medicine and urban underserved. The rotations are an excellent opportunity to learn more about the program, faculty and residents on a firsthand basis. At Carolinas Medical Center, residents are actively involved in the education of the third- and fourth-year medical students as they rotate through the pediatrics, internal medicine, OB/GYN and emergency medicine services.

Our family medicine program is fully accredited and conforms to the curriculum requirements set forth by the LCME.

Visiting Students

Students interested in rotating at Wake Forest should apply through the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and utilize the visiting student learning opportunities program (VSLO/VSAS).

No documentation will be accepted via postal mail, fax, in an email or email attachment. All application documents must be submitted through VSLO only. Due to limited space and capacity, we are unable to accept applications for visiting rotations and observerships from students of international medical schools or other non-LCME/COCA accredited medical schools.
