The Division of Public Health Sciences includes 69 faculty and 225 staff in four vibrant academic departments: Social Sciences and Health Policy, Implementation Science, Biostatistics and Data Science and Epidemiology and Prevention. The Division has consistently ranked in the top 10 of NIH funding for organizations of its type, with $30M in total extramural funding in FY2021.

WFUSM is home to nationally and internationally recognized research in Alzheimer’s Disease, Aging and Mobility, Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes and Obesity, Cancer, Neurosciences and Regenerative Medicine. There will be opportunities to collaborate with faculty across multiple disciplines and become members of one or more of our nationally recognized centers, including, among others: The Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity, Office of Cancer Health Equity, Center for Healthcare Innovation, Center for Biomedical Informatics, Center for Addiction Research, Center for Vaccines at the Extremes of Aging, Center on Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, etc. Research excellence, coupled with a robust informatics data infrastructure, clinically integrated implementation science efforts and a firm commitment to the promotion of health equity, renders the WFUSM a rich environment for breakthroughs in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and improvements in quality of life.
