Christopher P. O’Byrne, MS is the Vice Dean and Vice President of Administration and Operations for the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. In this role, he serves as the senior administrator for the school—supporting the academic agenda, focusing on growth, development, and success of strategy and operations within the school. He is responsible for establishing and refining the requisite governance, leadership, and reporting structures to implement the best practice processes, controls, and enablers necessary to achieve excellence, operational efficiency, financial health, and ongoing compliance obligations.

Mr. O’Byrne has over 23 years of experience as an administrator in academic medicine. He is a graduate of Stonehill College’s Healthcare Administration Program with a Master of Science in Leadership from Northeastern University. He has been at Wake Forest for over 13 years, serving as a senior leader focused on growth and expansion of the research mission before joining the Dean’s Office in 2022. Prior to coming to Wake Forest in 2010, Mr. O’Byrne spent 10 years in research operations at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
