School of Medicine Students Sweep Poster Awards at NCNS

Four Wake Forest University School of Medicine students were selected as winners at the North Carolina Neurological Society’s 2021 Annual Meeting, which was held virtually. There were 17 total posters, 10 from Wake Forest University School of Medicine and seven from UNC School of Medicine, and all three highest-rated abstracts were Wake Forest students.

During the conference, it was announced that Roy E. Strowd III, MD, MEd, MS, Associate Professor of Neurology, Hematology and Oncology, and Clinical and Translational Science Institute, has moved into the role of president of the society, after the current leader stepped down for personal reasons. 

The mission of the North Carolina Neurological Society is to stimulate and foster improvement in the quality of all aspects of the health care of patients with disorders of the nervous system, to promote access to neurologists for these patients, to encourage the association of professional neurologists and neurological associates, to advance the practice of neurology in the State of North Carolina, to promote continuing neurological education, and to aid in the advancement of scientific and clinical techniques and research in neurological medicine.
