About Me

I am passionate about teaching medical humanities, narrative medicine and communication skills.

I am an assistant professor of gerontology and geriatric medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where I am the director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship program. My roles include serving as the core faculty communication and professionalism director for the Internal Medicine Residency program.

I am board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, internal medicine and geriatric medicine.

My affiliations include the Sticht Center for Healthy Aging and Alzheimer’s Prevention, where I consult with inpatient staff and the palliative and supportive care at home program staff. Additionally, I am a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Geriatrics Society.

After receiving my bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina, I received my medical degree at Wake Forest University. I completed residency in internal medicine at Wake Forest University, where I also completed fellowships in geriatrics and hospice and palliative medicine.
