About Me
I am a board-certified pediatric hospitalist with a research focus on the impact of pediatric obesity in the inpatient setting. My work focuses on many potential effects of obesity, including clinical outcomes, patient safety, and weight bias. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality funded my work investigating adverse events in children with obesity. I am especially interested in how we identify when adverse events occur in the hospital, with the ultimate goal of improving hospital care for all children.
In addition, I am very involved in resident education. While serving as Assistant Program Director for the Pediatric Residency program, I took the lead on restructuring our didactic curriculum from traditional noon conferences to a robust Academic Half Day format. This change enabled more residents to participate and allowed us to offer a greater variety of teaching sessions, thus improving the culture of our resident program.
Effective July 2019, I became an Associate Program Director for the pediatric residency. While my role as resident educator will continue to expand with this new position, I plan to use my background in clinical research to increase resident training in scholarship and evidence-based medicine as part of my role.
