Why Train at Wake Forest?

Our wound care fellowship offers a unique training experience based in the Department of Plastic Surgery. We are located in the heart of North Carolina with a broad tertiary referral area encompassing all of western North Carolina, southern West Virginia and southern Virginia. The wound care center is truly a multi-disciplinary center and based on the understanding that numerous subspecialties are required for wound healing and limb salvage.

Wake Forest has four different wound care centers located throughout central/western North Carolina with locations in Winston-Salem (main campus), High Point, Lexington and North Wilkesboro. All of Wake Forest's wound care centers firmly believe in the multidisciplinary approach to wound care and strive to provide excellent patient care.

The wound care center at the main campus in Winston-Salem treats on average 30-40 patients daily with at least 3-5 undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy as well with a steady increase in patient volume every year since it's conception. The wound care centers in High Point, Lexington and North Wilkesboro each see 20-30 patients daily while overseeing patients being treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
