Vascular Surgery Fellowship Curriculum

The Vascular Surgery Fellowship curriculum consists of both clinical training and didactic educational opportunities.

Clinical Training

Inpatient Fellowship Coverage

Fellows are exposed to the entire patient care continuum, including perioperative care, procedure selection and planning and postoperative surveillance. Departmental participation in the Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) Vascular Quality Initiative provides experience in quality tracking, measurement and improvement.

Operating Room at Wake Forest

The operating room at Wake Forest Baptist Health Medical center inculdes a dedicated vascular suite with advanced fixed imaging equipment to accommodate endovascular, open surgical and hybrid procedures with dedicated support from an experienced team of vascular technologists. Fellows are exposed to procedures that span a breadth of complexity with a balanced mix of open and endovascular cases (including diagnostic angiography) that ensures well-rounded technical exposure.

Didactics

Wake Forest Clinical Vascular Laboratory

Providing an important contribution to the fellowship training program through hands-on technical experience, didactic teaching conferences and organized practical experience with vascular interpretation is offered. Graduates obtain practical experience with study interpretation, methodology and quality control related to non-invasive testing that allows them to qualify for certification in vascular interpretation and should equip them to establish and direct an accredited clinical vascular laboratory.
