Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Curriculum

Our pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) fellowship curriculum covers topics in PEM and related medical specialties. In addition, fellows will be trained in teaching skills for residents, nurses, ancillary staff and the non-medical community.

Specific components of fellowship training include:

  • Quality improvement
  • Risk management
  • Case reviews
  • Leadership skills

Fellows will have direct responsibility for bedside and case-based teaching as well as didactic lectures for residents in pediatrics, emergency medicine and family practice.

There is also instruction in:

  • Billing
  • Documentation
  • Legal aspects of practice
  • Financial management and reimbursement issues

Conferences and Didactics

Fellows will be trained in formal and informal lecture preparation and presentation, and in the teaching of resuscitation and technical skills.

They will actively participate in:

  • Journal clubs
  • Didactic and case-based conferences
  • Conferences related to their own dedicated academic curriculum
