The Laboratory Animal Medicine Residence program at Wake Forest School of Medicine is certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) and offers a unique opportunity for motivated individuals interested in residency training. The program is directed by Richard W. Young, DVM, DACLAM.
Our high-quality training program is designed to provide board eligibility for the ACLAM and is guided by an ACLAM diplomate. The residency has a strong record of success in board preparation and provides experience across a wide species range, with an emphasis on nonhuman primates.
The residency lasts two years, or one year of residency with the potential for subsequent entry into a three-year National Institutes of Health-sponsored post-doctoral fellowship leading to an advanced degree (PhD or MS).
