Resident Wellness

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is dedicated to Resident Wellness. Residents and residency program leadership have joined efforts to develop a Resident Wellness Initiative that is resident-centered and driven by the programmatic mission to take care of each other as well as we take care of our patients.

The Resident Wellness Initiative provides education and awareness for IM residents on various topics through social events, conferences, online resources and incentive programs. In addition, the Wake Forest Internal Medicine Residency Program has a Wellness Committee composed of a group of residents dedicated to promoting well-being throughout our program. The committee is chaired by an associate program director and chief resident and comprises residents from each year. We meet regularly throughout the year to plan activities, conferences and service projects in which our residents can participate. Some of the activities we have done in the past include annual Match Day, Holiday and End-of-the-Year celebrations; an Annual Fall Fest; competitions like Bake-Offs; Ugly Sweater Contests; Trivia; and fitness events like local 5K Runs, Step Challenges and Exercise challenge events.
