We offer a 3-year program in hematology and medical oncology that is ACGME accredited. The curriculum is fully integrated such that our fellows are well trained in all aspects of hematology and medical oncology. The goal of the program is to train our fellows to be highly skilled specialist who are competent to practice independently and provide excellent care for patients with cancer or hematologic disorders. We strive to teach necessary research and critical thinking skills to ensure their success as clinical investigators and provide a foundation for an academic career should they so choose.

Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program Overview

Our Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of 51 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers and has a catchment area encompassing five states. As such, we have a very diverse population of patients who have come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. We serve as a major tertiary referral center.

The core mission of our cancer center is three-pronged:

  1. We offer state-of-the-art up-to-date treatment options for our patients, including clinical trials through cooperative oncology groups or investigator initiated.
  2. We have a strong cancer biology department as well as School of Public Health and can engage in collaborative research with them.
  3. We train the next generation of hematologist/oncologists.
