Medical Students Help Immigrants Attain Citizenship

Will Bradford

When Will Bradford, a medical student at Wake Forest School of Medicine, heard about immigrants who were on a path to citizenship but physically unable to realize their dreams of becoming American citizens, he wanted to do something to help them. Some of them are refugees who fought alongside the United States military during the Vietnam War and suffered serious physical and mental injuries that have prevented them from passing the U.S. citizenship test. So, Bradford and other medical students established Students United for Immigrant Transitional Services (SUITS). SUITS is a clinic for immigrants to undergo a health assessment that determines their eligibility for a medical exemption to the test needed to become citizens.
