About Me

As Director of the Palliative Care Program, I ensure that our mission meets the needs of Wake Forest Baptist Health while we practice evidence-based and innovative Palliative Care for the patients in our region. With a background in Geriatrics, I prioritize research and quality improvement projects for our underserved and vulnerable patients.

I have published about Advanced Care Planning education with medical students, and I received grant funding to study the effects of expressive writing on patients with cancer. I am currently a site Principal Investigator for a key study investigating the comparison of in-person and telehealth Palliative Care. This study focuses on both the patient and caregiver, and it made Palliative Care a leading edge in outpatient telehealth care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am honored to serve the patients I see for Palliative Care at Wake Forest Baptist. I help them explore their goals and values during serious illness. My aim is to treat the whole person, while teaching students, residents and peers about the primary Palliative principles that guide us to the best care possible.
